I’m in a similar boat on the fitness treadmill of life (wow, that’s a lot metaphors). I still go to the gym semi-regularly, but one thing that made a huge difference was signing up for a personal trainer I see every other week.

It’s not as expensive as it sounds especially since I only do it twice a month, but I get probably three or four times the workout I do when I go on my own, so there’s probably an equation there demonstrating the value I’m getting in saving time, at least. It’s worth it; my trainer is really great and when I set an appointment with someone it’s much harder to bail or to get de-motivated when things come up. And there’s something nice about feeling completely ass-kicked and sore for a few days when most of your time is spent at a chair, typing.
