I’m looking at an envelope at my desk that reads, “Your 2006 Retirement Planning Statement Enclosed.” I haven’t opened it yet because thinking about my retirement fills me with a curious mix of dread and sadness. I mean, I have trouble looking past what my work life will be like in two weeks. Don’t make me think about that broken 50-year-old man who wishes he’d invested in Google stock when he had the chance.
