Computer 1, PJ 0
So here’s the story behind this one. I got to working on the comic for today around Midnight last night while playing some Madden and pretty much just jacking around. I had made some substantial progress on panel 1 by around 3am, which is not unusual for the way I do our comics. I decided to take a shower because I have to work later today around noon, and normally I would just wake up right before then, take a shower and go. But I thought in this case I’d be better off getting it out of the way and using it to wake myself up so I could finish up the comic. I went to go take my shower, but before I stepped in the shower I needed to come back to my computer to write down something funny I thought of, and I noticed my monitor was blank. Windows had decided to restart itself because it had installed updates while I was gone.
All of this up until now isn’t really all that big a deal except that it just so happened that this was the one time I didn’t save my work and save often. The reason for that was that this comic was going to use the same background as the last one, and when that’s the case I normally just reopen the file for the last comic and replace layers in Photoshop. To save, I have to rename the file so I don’t lose the previous data from the last comic (I’m a packrat). For some reason I just didn’t do this before I decided to leave my computer unattended, and I lost all the work I did on that first panel. In the case of this comic, the first panel was going to be the most work and take the longest. The remaining panels would probably just require a few tweaks.
So, instead of redoing all that work, I decided to draw you this picture which is worth all those words you just read.
I promise you that comic on Friday.
You did what?
Don’t blame me. I was sleeping the whole time.
