I have not actually seen Blackfish, but I hear it totally got snubbed by Oscar this year. I have seen The Act of Killing, though, which is the granddaddy of all documentaries, and will surely deal out spankings to the less sagacious ones that were nominated. So I guess the snub doesn’t really matter.
What does matter is strapping GoPro cameras to monkeys. That — I would watch forever and ever, amen.
Outrage
I imagine Meany to be continually outraged by pretty much everything wrong that humans do, which must be an exhausting state of affairs, especially when it comes to documentaries. This week, he’s upset about the treatment of orcas in Blackfish, but not for the reasons you might expect. He tends to take this stuff personally even when it’s not about him or even about monkeys.
