Undead ahead
The undead are alive and well in today’s mainstream media. They’re walking. Their bodies are warm. They’re warring.
I’ve always been one to consume zombies. (You see the trick is to consume them before they consume your brains.) Let’s see… Plants vs. Zombies, 28 Days Later, Resident Evil, I Am Legend, Zombieland, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, Left 4 Dead, DayZ, Dead Space, Zombicide, Sufjan’s “They Are Night Zombies”, Marvel Zombies, Andy Nash’s “Ten Little Zombies: A Love Story”, Evil Dead, World War Z (the book… fuck that atrocity that’s coming out in theaters).
The points is I like zombies. But lately, they’re EVERYWHERE — to the point where now my zombie intake is highly filtered. I’ve steered clear of Dead Island, Dead Rising, the Resident Evil movie franchise, the Walking Dead TV series, Warm Bodies, etc.
All of this is to say, there’s a lot of fucking zombies going on.
Catching some Zs…
I knew that The Walking Dead had become a full-blown obsession in my house when my wife yelled at me upon realizing 10 minutes into an episode this season that our DVR wasn’t recording.
Luckily, we have two DVRs. Unluckily, the second DVR had missed it, too. So we watched the episode and then caught the first 10 minutes on the encore airing in reverse order, like some shitty, bootlegged version of Memento, but in real life.
We like zombies.
